Successful Real Estate Study Tour through East Africa

In September 2019, the first Study Tour of the IREBS African Real Estate Research Center took 14 real estate professionals from Germany and the United Kingdom to East African metropolises and to the Annual Conference of the African Real Estate Society (AfRES).

The tour was organized and accompanied by Prof Dr Karl-Werner Schulte HonRICS and Dr Jonas Hahn.

Real Estate Study Tour Group with lecturers, students and real estate professionals in Nairobi, Kenya.

The schedule of the tour comprised, amongst others, the urban development project “Tatu City” close to Nairobi, an affordable housing project in Arusha (powered by German DESWOS organization and the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Bavaria/Germany) as well as a variety of high-rise and mixed-use properties in Dar es Salaam.

Exciting and informative insights into the real estate markets were provided through speeches and presentations by the Cooperative Bank of Kenya, Knight Frank, Prof Francois Viruly as well as the National Housing Corporation of Tanzania, which is chaired by Dr Sophia Kongela, IREBS PhD graduate and Visiting Fellow of the IREBS African Real Estate Research Center.

We are thankful to all the institutions that supported and enriched the program of the tour.
