"I am Rachael Daisy Mirembe … a lecturer and programme coordinator of the Bachelor of Real Estate Business Management course at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda.
I am currently completing my PhD studies in Property Economics at the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
The IBRES Foundation for African Real Estate Research has supported me over the years with funding towards my PhD research and a grant to attend the conference of the African Real Estate Society in Johannesburg in 2017.
This support enables me to carry out scientific work which will be the first of its kind in mainstream real estate in Uganda. First, it will provide policy makers with a strong basis using the empirical data obtained to reposition the property market in Uganda for global competitiveness. Secondly, it will contribute to the professionalisation of the real estate profession and lastly it will benefit especially the students at Makerere University where I will continue to teach after completion of my PhD."
