About the Foundation

Trust, legitimacy and a clear mission. AfRER exists to make academic real estate research in Africa possible — and visible.

Mission & Vision

Independent academic funding for African real estate research.

We believe that African property markets deserve the same depth of scholarly attention as those in Europe, North America or Asia — and that the scholars best placed to deliver it are working in Africa.

Why African real estate research

Structural relevance, long-term impact.

Africa’s property markets shape urbanisation, affordable housing and capital flows for nearly a fifth of humanity. Yet peer-reviewed research output remains disproportionately small. Closing that gap is a long game — and it requires patient, independent funding.
